Top 10 Game Rain-Out Survival Tips E-mail

caughtinrainHere at the CUA, we realize you're probably feeling a bit like the kid in this picture -- especially if you play on Thursdays. We've had a pretty wet start to the season so far....and that's after the spring snow finally let up.

Due to the rainy conditions and field closures, we've had to unfortunately cancel a lot of league games. So, to try and cheer you up in your time of loss, we've come up with.....drumroll please.....

Top 10 Things To Do When Games Are Rained Out

#10 Finally get around to reading the 11th Edition.
#9 Wash your car . . . for free!
#8 Consider running for Alderman in Ward 9.....or maybe volunteer for GC's campaign instead.
#7 Apply fresh duct tape to your cleats.
#6 Briefly contemplate moving to eastern Canada. Okay, you can stop that now.
#5 (For those dating or married to someone who doesn't play ultimate) Figure out a good excuse to not do that thing they keep bugging you to do "next time you don't have ultimate".
#4 Sample the fine food at the Wild Rose Taproom.
#3 Debate who'd win this arm-wrestling match: Ultimate Rob vs. Ultimate Corey
#2 Practice layouts, at a greenspace near you.

And the #1 way to survive a game cancellation due to rain....

#1 Fashion a sacrifice to send Mother Nature a message. Consider heating a large bucket of water to evaporation in your oven. It will be both warm and satisfying at the same time.  :-)

Summer 2009 Wrap-Up E-mail

Late summer sunset, seven on the lineIt's hard to believe that's summer's already come and gone. Thanks to all the players and captains for another great Calgary Ultimate summer league. This year was by far our biggest season ever; there were 120 teams playing in 19 divisions over three weeknights, for a complete 17-week season (or 20 if you played on Tuesdays because of the rain). We scheduled over 1150 games and hosted yet another amazing Ho-Down and Slo-Down. Thanks again to SirLoin and Wildrose for hosting our Fall Festival a couple of weeks ago, which by all accounts was the perfect tourney to end Calgary's summer season. And thanks to everyone who took part in all of the CUA events this year, we've got more exciting events coming soon, stay tuned. Here are the full results (1st through 3rd) for all divisions from Summer League 2009:

Overall Winners:
Tuesday (A1)

Killer Wailers
Wednesday (A1)

Thursday (B1)
